Child Safety

Over the last several months I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about a family situation and how to talk about it. I’ve debated if it needs to be talked about and if so, how to say what needs to be said. Over the last week my sister and I have started talking again for the first time since my grandfather passed away in 2011. I can honestly say that I’ve missed my sister but there were some things going on that hurt our relationship and neither of us reached out to talk about it.

Last week the unthinkable happened for my sister and a terrible thing that scares the crap out of me happened. On July 14, my father got out of jail after 12 plus years. He was in jail for possession of child porn. My sister was unaware he was getting out, even after she talked to my grandma the day before he was released.

Nicki, I did not tell you to hurt you, I told you because I felt you needed to know and I’m so sorry if I hurt you. That was not my intention.

There are people who want to talk the talk, but refuse to walk the walk. They talk about how much they love children but are willing to put them at risk. This Saturday my family is having a birthday party for my grandma, she will be 82 on Sunday. Due to current family circumstances, my family and I will not be their.

I love my grandma with all my heart and I feel terrible that I won’t be there to celebrate this amazing day. However, I’m not willing to risk my 4 daughters being exposed to my father and I highly encourage that my cousins do the same. Please keep an eye on your kids and keep them safe.

If anyone wants to question my concern for child safety and protecting my kids, you haven’t been paying attention over the last 10 months. Protecting my daughter has been my number one priority and that has not changed now. Lexi is my world and I love Allie, Jill and Payton as if they are my own kids. I will do everything possible to protect these four girls from any danger!
